Clydell Gage

He blinked, looking at Antoinette closely. "... I'm... Sorry. I was just teasing you." His face became more serious, perhaps slightly sheepish. He looked away, avoiding contact with Antoinette, as he took a bite of his chicken.

Antoinette looked up at him and said quickly. No, it's not that. I'm just. . . thinking. I'm sorry. She sighed, and leaned her head back.

He was quiet after that, taking a bite of his chicken. "... Hm... You like to think a lot, don't you?" He glanced at Antoinette. "I'm not saying thinking is a bad thing. I'm a thinker, too."

Antoinette shook her head. "I don't think 'like' is the right word to describe my thinking problems, but yes, I do think a lot. It's sort of a habit. I've been alone for a long time, so I had a lot of time to think, being all by myself. Mostly not about good things." She shrugged, looking down at her hands.

He blinked, looking at Antoinette. One elbow rested on the table, cupping his face in his palm lazily. Clydell wasn't one to listen to old maids' remarks about his manners.

"... It's kind of funny. Our mind might think about such unpleasant things... And we can't help it. Our mind will hold something against us for the rest of our lives, pressing it against our noggins... And we can't do a single thing about it." Clydell let out a scoff. "I'm probably just rambling again... But.. The world is full of idiots. Stupid minds, stupid personalities, stupid everything. Our brains know it, but for most people, our mouths cover up what's in our mind, replacing it with something less... Rude." Clydell looked up at Antoinette. "... I'm not making sense, am I?"

Antoinette shook her head, looking at him. No, you're making sense. At least to me you are. I understand what you're saying. She sighed, and said mostly to herself. No matter how hard you try to forget, you just can't. It's like it's permantly burned into your mind.

"Exactly." He took the last bite of his chicken, leaning back against the seat. "Finally, somebody who understands my ramblings." He let out a bitter scoff, then stared at the ceiling. "I don't make sense to most people. Sometimes I don't even make sense to myself."

Antoinette looked at him and nodded. "That's exactly how I feel." She said. She sighed. "People just don't understand." She said. She finished her food and looked at him. "What should we do now?"

He picked up their trash, throwing it into a trash can triumphantly. "Well," he said, standing up. "We could head back home. Or... We could go somewhere kind of interesting and fun." He blinked, looking at Antoinette. "Your choice."

Antoinette thought for a moment. "I don't want to go home just yet. Let's go somewhere interesting and fun." She looked at him and smiled. "Do you have a place in mind?"

"Of course I do." He paused, before turning towards the door. "... But, you'll find out what it is when we get there. It's kind of something that's a nuisance to have to explain." Clydell took steps towards the door, motioning for Antoinette to follow.

"The only way to get to the place is to take a route that's similar to the shortcut we took to get here... So, brace yourself." He hopped up on a brick wall separating peoples' backyards, swiftly walking across it, until he hopped off. Clydell climbed a number of fences, walked through at least three alleys, and climbed over a few walls.

When he climbed over the last wall, what was in front of him looked like nothing. Because of the sunset, it looked like a pile of golden junk. Clydell moved and played with a powerbox on the stone wall, before flipping a breaker. At once, the area became alive. Lights were turned on and music sounded from the attractions. More colors began to join the sunset's gold.

"This is an old amusement park I used to visit when I was new to the Zodiac House," he said. "It's abandoned. Nobody goes to it now. Soon, they're going to take it down. But if you flip the breaker, everything turns on." Clydell glanced over at Antoinette. "So, what do you want to do first?"

Antoinette was worn out and tired by the time they reached what seemed like nothing. When he flipped the beaker she looked around, wide eyed and wide awake now. She looked around, not saying anything for a moment. Then she looked at him and shrugged, smiling. You know this place better than I. You choose.

"Alright, let's see..." He paused for a moment to think, then his face lit up when he finally thought of a fun ride. How awfully out of character. "How about the haunted house? It's full of jumpscares, I like it." Clydell seemed rather excited, for a young adult who was going on a few rides at an amusement park.

Antoinette looked at him and smiled then laughed at his childness attitude. "Alright. Let's go." She said, waiting for him to lead the way.

He started out walking towards the haunted house, but his casual pace quickly turned into a sprint, as he grabbed Antoinette's wrist gently so she wouldn't fall behind. Once they reached the haunted house, he let go of her hand, admiring the outside happily. He absolutely adored the dark colors and decorations.

"Well, let's go." He walked in, and was quickly welcomed by darkness. You couldn't even see your hand in front of you. Frightening ambient music was playing.

Antoinette covered her mouth slightly, hiding her smile. She looked at him. "Okay." She followed him in and stayed close to his body, their shoulders brushing each other. The music made a shiver go down her spine.

Suddenly, after a few minutes, Clydell stopped walking. "Wait a second," he said, looking around in the darkness. He squinted his eyes, hoping it would help him peer into the black air. "... I think we're lost. We've been walking in a straight line, so we shouldn't be lost, but... ... I think we're lost."

Antoinette tried to look around in the darkness. "Lost? How could we be lost?" She asked, a bit of fear and worry creeping into her voice. She didn't doubt that they could find their way out eventually, but just the concept of being lost worried her. She moved a bit closer to where she thought Clydell was.

"Let's keep on walking, if we run into a jumpscare, we'll definitely find our way through this thing." Clydell began to walk again, making sure he could feel his elbow touching Antoinette's. If they got separated from each other, that would only make matters worse.

"I don't remember this place being all that scary, so don't wo-" As soon as he began to speak, a dark red color gave light, and the music became much, much louder. A large demon-like face distorted into a creepy smile had jumped in front of Clydell, a roaring noise filling the area. Clydell let out a frightened yell in surprise, stumbling backwards and falling.

Antoinette was startled at first and jumped, letting out a small scream. She recovered quickly and looked down at Clydell. She covered her mouth to hide her smile but started laughing. She moved her hand away from her mouth and offered her hand to Clydell. "Need any help?" She asked, still laughing.
