Clydell Gage

He let out a sigh of relief, glad that Antoinette believed him. When she mentioned getting hurt more,  he simply waved his hand.

"I'm fine," he replied. "I'm sick of lying down." Clydell then noticed, some blood had bled through the sleeve of the sweatshirt Antoinette was wearing.

"Well, enough about me," he said quietly, reaching out one arm to take Antoinette's bleeding wrist, holding it up and pulling down the sleeve, so he could look at the cut. "... You should do something about this, before it gets infected..."

Antoinette quickly pulled it away and snapped. "It's fine!" She looked at him and took a deep breath. "Sorry, but it's fine. You don't need to worry about it." She mumbled and fixed her sleeve, looking at the ground while doing so.

Clydell Gage

He flinched a bit, pulling his hand back at his side when she snapped. Antoinette was certainly not one to snap at somebody. Knowing this made Clydell feel a bit... Uncomfortable.

"... Well, if it gets infected, it's not my problem," he finally said, after a bit of silence. Clydell stuck his hands in his pockets, his back leaning against the wall. Now, he had gotten used to the pain of standing.

Clydell felt horrible about knowing Antoinette had gone off and cut herself. If he'd simply kept quiet and conversed about something else, perhaps he could have prevented that. So, Clydell decided to do something.

"Antoinette," he said quietly, looking away quickly. What he was about to say was going to be fairly embarrassing, on his part. "... I really mean what I meant. I... I think you're pretty amazing. I mean, you're smart, have great interests, and you're... You're a good person, Antoinette. ... Please don't cut yourself. Please. A... A wonderful person like you shouldn't be doing that sort of thing."

Clydell was fumbling over his words. Clydell was partially disgusted at himself for actually begging for somebody to stop doing something. Oh well, he just hoped it'd help. Clydell then gave Antoinette a soft look, his green and silver eyes showing kindness, with a look that said, 'No, I'm not into you in that way'.

Antoinette looked at him and blushed softly. She looked down. "Thank you." She said softly. "No one has ever told me that." She said, looking back up at him. She closely looked at him. "You should really go back to the medical center." She said.

He let out a smile, a real smile, when she said nobody had ever told her that. His smile quickly disappeared, as he suddenly realized: That was the first time he'd smiled in several years. Clydell wasn't sure what to make of it, but he kept the frown that had taken over the smile.

"... Yeah, I should probably get back to the medical center," he said quietly, turning and limping back towards the medical center. He kept one arm on the wall, leaning against it so he wouldn't fall over and simply hurt himself even more.

Antoinette followed him to make sure he got there safely. "Want some help?" She asked softly, still thinking of his smile. She looked at him carefully, in case he stumbled or fell or anything.

"I'm fine," he replied, turning at a corner. Clydell most certainly was not one to ask for help, even when he needed it most. He liked keeping his problems to himself. Complaining and groaning was not his thing.

"... Hey, Antoinette," he said quietly, as he walked- or at least tried to- in the hallway. "... Thanks, a lot." He didn't know why, but he simply felt he should thank her. Perhaps it was because she had practically saved his life? Or perhaps it was because she was somebody to talk to, in a softer, nicer tone rather than his usual obnoxious and rude?

"... Really, I mean it. ... Thank you."

Antoinette looked at him and smiled. "You're welcome." She said softly. Without drawing much attention to it, she moved her hand up her arm and felt her wrist. The bleeding had mostly stopped but she tried not to flinch from the pain of touching it. She removed her hand and wiped the little amount of blood on her sweatshirt. She looked at him. "And thank you too, Clydell. I'll. . . try not to do it anymore." she said, her eyes drifting to her wrists.

Clydell blinked, realizing Antoinette had been talking about her wrist. But were words truly enough to change the fact that this girl had caused physical harm to herself? He didn't think that a few sentences and a smile was enough. So, an idea came into his head. It was a stupid idea, but it would probably mean a lot.

"Hey, Antoinette," he said quietly, stopping in his steps, as he looked at the ground. He quickly found a small glass shard, from the vase he had accidentally shattered earlier. Picking it up with his right hand, he held out his left wrist.

"... Each time you cut yourself, I'll cut myself, too," he said, before swiftly bringing the shard across his wrist, striping a deep, bleeding cut. Clydell let out a breath of air in pain, but simply looked over at Antoinette. The blood from the cut was trickling down, onto his jeans and the floor. He put the glass shard on a table in the hallway.

"You have to absolutely promise you won't do it anymore," he said very, very faintly, before continuing his steps to the medical center.

Antoinette let out a small gasp at what he had done. Doing it to herself was one thing, but seeing someone else do it. . . She followed and looked at him. Clydell, never do that ever again. She said fiercly. She then looked at him and said in a more gentle tone. Fine. I absolutely promise I won't do it anymore. She looked at his wrist. You have to get that cleaned up when we get to the medical center.

Probably not gonna be on for the rest of the night because I'm going to my friends house because her dad's dying and I've never been there before so I probably won't have wifi and I'll feel bad asking her for the password.

Clydell let out a small sigh of relief when she promised to not cut herself anymore. Sure, that promise might break one day, but it just gave him a good amount of faith in her for the time being.

"It's fine, you don't need to worry about it," Clydell mimicked her, imitating her voice in a little less-than-perfect attempt. He then went back to his usual voice. "Doesn't feel good seeing somebody else cut themselves, now does it? ... I'll just wrap a bandage around it or something. It's not very major."

Clydell finally opened the door of the medical center, only to have scolds reprimanding him from the nurse taking care of him. He waved them away, only to have his arm taken and a bandage wrapped tightly around the wound, to stop the bleeding. Clydell thanked the nurse, then hobbled over to the bed, where he was told to rest.

Antoinette rolled her eyes at him mimicking her. She followed him into the medical center and waited patiently. Once he was back in the bed, resting, she went over to him. "Are you going to be fine now?" She asked, stiffling a yawn. She didn't want to leave unless she knew he was going to be alright.

He nodded his head, looking at Antoinette. "I'll be fine," he said. "I just need to rest for a day or two, then I'll be up and running like an idiot again." He blinked, noticing a slightly tired look on Antoinette's face.

"You should go get some sleep," he recommended. "Go ahead and take a nap. I'll be fine. It's not like the room is on fire."

Antoinette nodded. "Alright. I'll come back later, if you want. Get better, Clydell." She said gently and walked out towards her room.
