Nicholas:

Nick? I've never been called Nick before... He looked at Rose, swallowing the bit of broccoli he had been chewing on. "I suppose I like horses." That was an utter lie. One of his past owners had been a horse fanatic. He did not have a good history with horses and tried to avoid them as much as possible. "I've cleaned up stalls and dusted coats. Yup. All of that." And I've also been nearly trampled on to death by a million horses, as a punishment for speaking without permission, he thought bitterly. 

Rose;  Looks surprised.  She shivers slightly. Um...I suppose that I won't introduce you to my horse then. Visible tremors run through her body again. How about cats?  Or dogs?  I even own some rabbits and guinea pigs if you would like to meet any of them?  There are also some birds and squirrels and chipmunks that I feed that I could show you?

Nicholas:

He thought for a bit. Cats, well, he had been dressed up as a cat for one of his mistress' parties. It was not a fun experience. "Cats," he said, "I suppose are alright." As for dogs, one of his masters used to have a full pack of hounds. Nicholas shuddered, remembering the ferocious barks that would still haunt his memories. "Dogs and I don't mix well. Rabbits and guinea pigs are pretty cute, I guess. And so are birds, squirrels, and chipmunks." 

Rose; looks at Nicholas hmm...not to be mean or anything...I really shouldn't say this...or ask this...or whatever.  But for a neko, you do not seem fond of your other half. Her words are slow and laced with patience and concern. Is it something I can cure?  or Fix? or help you with?  The next words she says are fierce and muttered under her breath.  God how I hate being unsure.  If it is better altogether I will not show you any of extended family through the more instinctious branch

Nicholas:

He looked at Rose. "Well... ... I've just had some bad memories involving cats," he said, his right ear twitching. "They're alright. They're not the worst, but... ... They're okay." He then looked at the ground. Something to cure? He had more than several cuts and scars striping his body, but he simply shook his head. Something to fix? He shook his head. Something to help him with? He knew he could have some mental help with the flashbacks that came to him at night, but NIcholas shook his head again. The Neko then looked back up at Rose. "You can go ahead and show me your extended family," he said, "if you'd like to." 

Rose; smiles though the corners of her mouth turn down in a grimace and a troubled look is in her eyes. I won't do anything that makes you nervous or awkward.  I refuse to put you in that situation.  She sighs then smiles Besides my extended family isn't going anywhere.  You can tell me when you want to see them and so forth.  You are your own free soul here.

Nicholas:

You are your own free soul here. The words resounded in Nicholas's mind, and he looked up at Rose. "Thank you," he said quietly, dipping his head in gratefulness. He knew Rose was a nice person by then- A nice person, indeed. It felt nice to know that Nicholas was a free person, but it also felt so.. ... Odd. Never before had he been called free. 

(( Do you think we should make Nicholas, Rose, and everybody else in the house or whatever go to their rooms and sleep anytime soon? XDD It seems like they've been eating for at least five pages. ))

Rose; smiled No problem She pushed her chair back from the table. The hour grows late...I'll bet that Elizabeth has retired, and I suggest we do the same.  I'll introduce you to her in the morning.  She picked up her mostly emptied plate and smiled at Nicholas.

Nicholas:

He nodded silently, then picked up his own plate and stood up. He looked at Rose. "I hate to sound a bit like an idiot, but what should I do with my plate?" he asked, rather sheepishly. He waved his tail behind him, a habit of his. 

Rose; smiles Not an idiot question.  You give it to me.  She laughs Tonights my night, otherwise I'd show you to your room again.  She deftly grabs his plate and balances it on her own.  With a light carefree smile she looks at Nicholas. Sweet dreams Nicholas. She curtsies a little then sweeps away into the kitchen before she says anything she'd regret.  The long day was already pulling at her eyes, and when she got tired she tended to say more then she should.

Nicholas:

He nodded as a 'Good night' to Rose, then, with a bit of difficulty, finally found his way back to his room. He closed the door, then let out a small sigh. His first day in Rose's large manor was rather... ... Long. He lied down on the floor, curling up like a real cat. He was used to sleeping on the ground, so it wasn't very uncomfortable. He closed his eyes and made an effort to go to sleep, but it didn't come so easily. After moving around a bit, he drifted off into the clutches of sleep. 

'Now, ladies and gentleman!' a tall man announced, standing in the middle of the ballroom of his large mansion. 'I will show you the star of my party here tonight... The peak of the entertainment!'

Nicholas was shoved into the front of the crowd, a large and tall bucket of ice-cold water before him. He felt his owner's hand on the back of his head, and soon found his head submerged into the water. After a good twenty seconds of Nicholas thrashing, he was pulled up from the water, gasping for breath. The cruel laughs and jeers of the party guests filled his ears, for a split second, before he was forced into the water yet again. Again and again, Nicholas was forced into the water, only emerging from the water's surface for a few seconds at a time. Finally, Nicholas was jerked out of the water and thrown onto the floor, the stinging pain of being whipped lashing against his back. Nicholas looked at the ground and saw it was stained red, from his blood. His vision became blurry from the pain and he blacked out on the floor of his owner's  party room... 

Nicholas woke up from the flashback with a start, his breathing heavy. He closed his eyes, letting himself fall back onto the wooden floor. Another nightmare about his past. You won't be beaten anymore. Calm down, Nicholas thought to himself. He wasn't able to go back to sleep for the rest of the night. 

Rose; Places her elbows deep into the water and finishes the dishes putting them on a rack to dry so she could put them away come morning.  She makes her way to her room and changes slipping into her bed with a sigh.  She thinks about Nicholas until she falls asleep, deeply.  She wakes up before the sun rises with a sigh.  And goes about getting dressed and taking a shower.

Nicholas:

He laid on the floor, staring up at the ceiling, listening to the sounds around him. Through the window in his room, sunlight began to show itself. He sat up and blinked, thinking it must have been around six in the morning. If he had gone to sleep at around ten that night, then he probably only got four hours of sleep. He shrugged one shoulder, not really caring about how much slept he had gotten. He let out a small sigh, remembering the horrible nightmare he had experienced. He rubbed his eyes, then trembled slightly, remembering the nightmare as if it had happened yesterday. He shook his head and softly mouthed to himself, 'It's just a memory'. 

Rose; Dresses in slow unhurried movements all the while singing in a rythematic and melodious voice.

She walks downstairs and into the kitchen taking care of the dishes and starting to make the batter for blueberry pancakes.

Nicholas:

He heard singing, in a different language from English. He assumed it was French, as that was what it sounded like. Deciding it was about time for him to 'wake up', he walked downstairs into the kitchen. Remembering his nightmare, he trembled, and suddenly didn't want to see Rose. But he forced himself to stay still, and swallowed some saliva, hoping his voice would sound normal. Seeing Rose making batter for what appeared to be some sort of pancakes, he said quietly, and a little shakily, "Is there anything I can help you with?" 

OHMAIGOSH, YOU'RE ONLINE. 

Bring up this roleplay like there's no tomorrow! XD I've been kinda sad that this died down... It's a nice storyline. 

Rose; looked at Nicholas with a smile which dropped into worry and confusion as soon as she saw the parlor of his face.  She shook her head. Afraid not, This is my treat for my family and friends...Breakfast made by moi every morning.  I hope you like blueberries and pancakes. She places the finished batter on the hot griddle and watches it sizzle with some satisfaction.  She looks back at Nicholas The others don't get up for another hour, you should sit down or something.

Nicholas:

"A-ah... ... Okay. ... I'm quite used to waking up early." He found a chair in the kitchen and sat down in it. "... Do you mind if... ... I talk to you? While you make breakfast?" He spoke rather sheepishly, almost feeling embarrassed. "I-I mean, if I'm being a nuisance, I can go away, but I... I'd like to know you a bit." He blinked a few times, looking at Rose with his red eyes. He was still in a bit of shock from his nightmarish memory, only to shudder as he remembered the feelings of being humiliated in such a way. 

Rose; smiled at him Of course you can talk to me.  Anytime, anyplace and about anything.  I'll always have an ear or two for you to talk off. She laughs You know when I'm not being a nuisance...which you could never be...and talking off your ears.  She chuckles See there I go saying too much. She was in good spirits this morning totally at odds with the circles under her eyes.  She pauses then says slowly but sincerely Of course you can talk to me.

Nicholas:

"You don't say too much. It's kind of relieving that you're not dead-silent." He quickly identified the circles under Rose's eyes. How can she be so happy when she looks tired? he thought to himself. "Are you... Tired?" he asked quietly, tipping his head slightly to the side. "You have circles... Under your eyes. Did you not sleep well last night?" Rose seemed quite cheery, but the bags under her eyes said otherwise. It didn't really match up for Nicholas to understand.
