Wolf: growls and leaps off the bed his teeth glinting slightly in the weak light. Kate; wakes up, instantly alert What is it? her voice cracks but her whisper is clear and almost silent. Wolf; runs into another room, where a snarl echoes and a shout of pain follows. Kate: runs out after wolf, fear and adrenaline running through her bones. She takes in the scene quickly. Wolf was standing over a bleeding man while he layed there mumbling under his breath. What are you doing here? I thought I took care of you last time! Man; looks at Kate and snarls, his lip curling in an ugly leer Took care of me? A scrawny girl like you? he laughs harshly As IF! I'm here for what is rightfully mine. Kate: glares at him Nothing here is yours! and nothing is worth coming to my house so close to dawn! I never agreed to the awful deal they made and I most certainly payed off their debts to you in full! This I know because nothing is worth then an obligation that is sitting over ones head! I finished and got it over with as quick as I could! Man; smiles at Kate But that's not what I want, money is a great gift, but a family line is more fulfilling. Kate; tremors of disgust and fear shake through her and wolf sensing this barks deeply causing the man to jump in terror I would never marry you. I will NEVER bear your children! I WILL NEVER HAVE YOU ON MY PROPERTY AGAIN! she shrieks the last sentence in outrage at him. I want you gone now...and next time I catch you here, wolf will be kind enough to kill you...so if you value your life i recommend never coming back her voice was icy cold, nothing compared to the explosive volcanic heat of a couple seconds before. Wolf; gives one more warning bark and snarl in the man's face before stepping off of his chest and walking confidently over to Kate to recieve his treat of a scratch on his flea bite behind his ear. Man: sneers at the dog and Kate before walking to the door This is not the last you'll hear from me...when i want something...i get it...when i vow something...I do it. the last part of the sentence sounded onominous. sending shivers of terror down her back Kate; blinking once at the man's departing back raises her hate filled voice to follow him You're NEVER going to get me! Not in this life or the next! Or Ever! Man; gives a cheery wave over his shoulder and a leer then turns and walks confidently over her ground, kicking up her precious food as he leaves. Wolf: growls at the man but stays at Kate's side Kate; looks after him, emotions threatening her on all sides. Finally she looks at wolf, and then to her nightgown in painful embarrasment. That rat...I knew there was a reason he wouldn't look at my face. Thank you wolfie...if you hadn't been here...who knows what would've happened? she shudders at the thought her imagination fueled by what she'd seen at the marketplace plenty of times. She crosses her arms over her chest then makes her way back into the room leaving Wolf to guard the door. She changes into her work dress then comes back, and walks to the well. Talking to Wolf as he follows her...Since it's almost morning no point in going back to sleep, might as well fix those plants that rat tore apart, and start the water for dinner. she pulls the heavy bucket up and teeters back to her cottage. Placing the bucket on the floor she grabs some hard bread then bustles about getting it prepared for later, then walks out and starts fixing her main food supply, pulling the mostly ripe ones, and replanting the growing ones. Wolf never leaves her side | |
