Where Jeremy had sent Sam really wasn't all that strange for humans. A hiker had been killed by some sort of canine. Experts couldn't agree on what species though. Some thought it was a coyote but the tracks were too big for a typical coyote. Others thought it might have been a dog or wolf. The only reason Jeremy had taken any notice of it was the fact that years before two people had been killed by a single canine in the same area. It was too similar to the new story to be a coincidence but the time between the two events was too long for a normal animal. | |

Her size and scent were really the only way to tell her apart from a normal one. She'd been living in the woods for years after the shock of a car crash had caused her to change for the first time as a child. Panicked over the crash and finding out about her supernatural ability, she'd accidentally killed her adopted mother and sister. In the years following that she'd learned how to change back to human but had only done it a handful of times. | |

He'd seen her during one of her rare changes. She tried to leave him go, after all who would believe him, but he'd come back. | |
