Theon groaned quietly and tried to move closer to her hand. Daenerys watched him. Jon watched him silently for longer than he would have liked. There was no way Benjen was telling the truth but he'd never lied before. But Monroe? His aunt Lyanna? "What? No. That's not possible. She disappeared and then..." "She died. Having you." Benjen said. "She was engaged to Robert Baratheon but he didn't treat her right. He cheated and when he drank he got violent. I helped her get away. She got an apartment not far away from where Monroe was based and they met and she fell for him. Eventually she got pregnant with you, but fearing that Robert would somehow find her if she went to the hospital, tried to have you at home. But there were complications. By the time your father- Ned- found her it was too late. She made him promise to take care of you. He didn't know exactly how badly his friend acted but he had some idea. He didn't want to risk him finding out your true lineage and doing something to hurt you or Monroe finding you so he lied and said that you were his. Monroe wasn't as messed up as he is now but from what I heard he wasn't normal even back then. When you got old enough to know the truth Monroe was too much of a threat so he kept up the lie." | |
