Rose nodded. "How did this happen? It's light out." "It didn't happen today. It's probably been a couple days." Dimitri told her. Roses face grew dark. Two days. Two days for them to be dead and no one know. "Why didn't the guardians stop them?" Dimitri sighed. "To do this much damage... there had to be at least eight Strigoi. Probably more. The guardians didn't stand a chance against that many. There weren't enough of them." It was rare for more than two or three strigoi to be together. They didn't work well together. A whole group like that was unheard of. "There were only three guardians. There should have been four but there's been talk. One of the family's had left recently. Him and another family's guardian had run off together." "How could they do that? It's so selfish." Rose said. She couldn't imagine abandoning Lissa for some guy like that. It was a waste. They couldn't even have a family together thanks to dhampirs weird biology. "It was love. They handled it wrong but they deserve to live the life they want to." Dimitri said. "It doesn't matter.
