Rose counted to ten after Dimitri disappeared into the dark house. Then she went around back to look for another way in. Her curiosity won out over her desire to listen to Dimitri. She startled when an older dhampir walked over. He wasn't old by any means but for a guardian he was. "Don't go in there." He warned. "What happened?" Rose asked, sounding more confused than worried. Why was this man coming out to talk to her instead of Dimitri? She didn't consider the fact that he might be dead. Ghosts bothered her near constantly but she still wasn't used to the idea. But she should have known as he was dead. | |

Rose carefully reached in as he did and unlocked the door. She just as carefully pulled her arm out and then opened the door. She looked in, saw nothing of interest, and walked into the house. For some reason she was sweating despite the mantra of it's daylight. Nothing can hurt you in the daylight repeating in her head. She looked around. Couches. Rocking chair. Tv. Body. It was the body of a woman. She was laying on her back in front of the tv. She would have looked like she was sleeping if not for the fact her throat was clearly ripped out. Only a few feet away was the body of a man, slumped over on his side. Next to the couch was another one. This one smaller. Child sized. And another and another and another. There were bodies everywhere. Bodies and blood. | |

Bad things couldn't happen in the day. That's when she noticed the ghosts. Children huddled together, sobbing. A few of the adults began to swarm her and plead for help. Panic flooded into her. She couldn't breathe. She stepped back, needing to get out of there, to get some space, but the ghosts wouldn't let her escape. | |

They wouldn't leave her alone. All she wanted was to be out of the house and for Diego to hold her. Comfort her. And she hated herself for it. She didn't want to be the girl that ran to her man at the first sign of trouble. | |
