The pack kept vigil at Dominic's bedside for three days before he finally passed. He never woke up. Clay tried to be there as much as he could but Jeremy ordered him to keep going to classes, although he skipped ones that weren't absolutely necessary. Antonio tried to handle the funeral but Jermey ended up quietly taking over for him. There was a small ceremony and then everyone went back to the sorrentino estate. They were there less than an hour before Malcolm spoke up. "We need to decide on a new alpha. Mutts get word that Dominic died without a successor and they'll be breaking down our doors." | |

That's how it works when an Alpha dies before the Pack chooses an official successor. Now, the only people here who might have a shot at winning that challenge are you and Antonio. Tonio doesn't want it. You'd make a damned fine Alpha... in ten or fifteen years. If that's what you want, I'll pick you as my successor and I'll make sure you win. That's a promise." But, as the Law says, if any Pack member feels he or she isn't ready to make a decision, they have two days to consider the options." With that, a decade of Alpha campaigning came to a sudden end. The vote was open, as all Pack votes were. As the former Alpha's closest relative, Antonio began, by casting his vote for Jeremy. Jorge was next, who also voted for Jeremy. Nick did the same. Then it was onto the Santos family, including Hayley, all of which went with Malcolm. Peter went and pledged his support to Jeremy. Ross voted for Malcolm after some nervous hesitation. Cliff then went and voted for Malcolm. Then it was joeys turn. He opened his mouth, his lips forming Jeremy's name, but he was elbowed by Dennis before he could say anything, who requested some time to think about everything for the both of them. "Oh for God's sake." Malcolm snarled. "Just pick-" "He gets his forty-eight hours." Jeremy said. Then, to Antonio. "Should we continue? Or leave it there?" "We'll keep going." Antonio said. "Anyone else wants time to think, just say so." He turned to Clay. "Clay? Do I need to ask?" Clay didn't hesitate. "No." "Jeremy, then." Antonio said. "Sam?" | |

There is was. A tie. As far as clay was concerned Jeremy had won though. Joey has been ready to name Malcolm and Dennis would vote for Jeremy over Malcolm. After the meeting Joey and Dennis excused themselves and went to the guest house to talk. Although the one-bedroom cabin was for guests, during a Meet everyone liked to stick together, so everyone slept in the main house. The guest one was used for humans and, occasionally, for Pack members whom Dominic chose to punish. When Dennis asked Antonio for the guest house key, everyone knew that it meant they wanted a place to talk without being overheard. That was fine. They were sent off and Jeremy forbade any of the kids from trying to visit Joey and sway his father. This was a choice they had to make on their own. | |
