Jon nodded a little. He felt bad but if she didn't mind he could use the help. He assumed she'd be on the main road but there are a couple options Elizabeth could be using. Hali, the older of the two women and no less ragged than stiv, looked them over. "Give us your weapons and anything else valuable you've got and we'll be on our way." The other female, a young redhead named Inkeri, looked uncomfortable. She stood at the back and while she had a spear in hand she didn't look like she was going to fight. "Why don't we go? Jon swore and ducked. It didn't matter how many times she did it. He never didn't react. He wanted to blame it on the giant bird coming at him. Who wouldn't react? But it was too close to what had happened. The wildlings went deathly silent when they heard the faint sound of steps on the leaves. The undergrowth parted to reveal the rest of the pack. Antares snarled, his head low and his fur raised. He looked even bigger than normal which was saying something. "I'm worried about my mom." Raelyn admitted. Jon went with them outside and started heading down the road. He looked around some but she wouldn't be that close. It would get her caught too quickly. "One of these days I think she's going to misjudge and run into me." Stiv would have laughed at the parrot if not for the wolf pack surrounding them. Jon smiled and walked. Stiv was luckily too bewildered to do much. Which gave the wolves time to attack. Dawn stayed between Charlie and Lucas. Antares lunged first and took down one of the men. Nova darted in and went after Hali. She stabbed at the wolf with a knife but didn't do much damage. Nova backed up only to rush forward moments later. This time her jaws closed around the woman's calf. Holding the knife with both hands, the small woman stabbed down but the wolf seemed to sense the blade coming. She pulled free for an instant, her mouth full of leather and cloth and bloody flesh. When Hali stumbled and fell she came at her again, slamming her backward, teeth tearing at her belly. "Thanks." As he went scrambling away Antares abandoned his first victim. He shook some of the blood off and bounded after the running man. He hamstrung him with a single snap of his teeth and then went for the throat as he fell. Raelyn smiled. | |
