Clay looked away. Of course she wouldn't share his feelings. He didn't really blame her. Who would like a guy who was more wolf than person? But he had been hopeful. "Just cause you aren't family doesn't mean no one cares."

Of course Ruby returned his feelings. But the issue was she didnt know for sure that he liked her. And that seemed to prove it. "It means I'm not worth the risk." 

Clay looked up at her. "You're entirely worth it."

Ruby shook her head. "No." 

Clay growled in frustration and sat up.

Ruby whined softly. "I'm sorry. Lay back down." 

Clay looked down at her. "I'm not sitting here and listening to that shit. I would have done anything to get you back because you're worth it."

Ruby nodded a little. "Okay. We can talk about something else." 

Clay slowly laid back down beside her.

Ruby smiled. "You're being creepy now?" She joked. 

"It's what I'm best at." Clay replied with a small smile

Clay smiled. "Jer got called to a parent teacher meeting at least once a week for my creeping the other kids out. It's good to know I haven't lost my touch."

Ruby laughed. "What did you do to those poor kids?" 

"Stalked them, mostly." Clay said. "Jeremy said I needed to learn to act like them."

Ruby nodded. "I don't know if that's what he meant." 

"Oh I know it wasn't. But if I had to learn their behavior I had to study them." Clay said.

Ruby laughed. "Ill have to take your word for it." 

Clay smiled. "No one could ever explain what I was doing wrong. It just made everyone uncomfortable."

Ruby laughed. "Then how bad could it have been?" 

"Bad enough to get Jeremy down there all the time." Clay replied. "Good news is he started feeding me more to make sure I didn't do more than stalk."

Clay smiled. "As if I would lower myself to touch one of those filthy creatures."

Ruby rolled her eyes a little. "Not all humans are bad." 

"They normally aren't good either." Clay replied.

Ruby shrugs. "All the humans I've met are fine." 

"Not the ones I've met." Clay said, a hint of a growl in his voice.

Clay looked around. Of course he'd met decent humans. Hell, he'd fallen for Elena while she was one, but that didn't mean he thought that the human race in general was good.
