"Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid."- Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

"There will come a time when you have a chance to do the right thing. I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by."- Elizabeth Swann and Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

"Curious. Your friends appear to be quite desperate, Jack. Perhaps they no longer believe that a gathering of squabbling pirates can defeat the Flying Dutchman. And so despair leads to betrayal. And you and I are no strangers to betrayal, are we, Jack? [Jack, who has been looking through various containers, stops and glances at a P mark on his arm] [turning to face Jack] It's not here, Jack. What? What isn't? The Heart of Davy Jones is safely aboard the Dutchman, and so unavailable for use as leverage to satisfy your debt to the good Captain. By my reckoning, that debt has been settled. By your death... yet here you are. Close your eyes and pretend it's all a bad dream. That's how I get by."- Lord Cutler Beckett and Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

"Clergyman, on the off chance that this does not go well for me, I would like you to note it-hearing now-that I am fully prepared to believe in whatever I must, and be welcomed into that place where all the "goody-goodies" want to go once they pop their clogs. Savvy? We have a word for that, Jack. You can convert. I was thinking more of an as-needed basis."- Jack Sparrow and Philip Swift, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Winslow went as high as he could before the limbs couldn't hold his weight. Elena followed and grabbed his shirtfront. She pulled him off the branch. His arms and leg windmilled like a cartoon as Elena held him by the shirt in the air.

"Twenty million." Winslow said. He was clearly freaking out but part of him still thought it was all just a game.

"Weren't we up higher than that and I still said no?" Elena asked. "Offer me more."

"M-more? Okay. 40." Winslow said.

"No. More. Offer me everything." Elena said. "Everything you own."

"What? Hell no!" Winslow said. His attitude changed when Elena released one of her hands from his shirt. "Fine. Fine damn it! Take it."

"No." Elena said. She smiled when his face fell. "Let me ask you this. If armen would have made you the same offer would you have taken it? I don't think so. He could have offered you millions and you still would have killed him. Why? Because his death was worth more than money. Those few seconds of amusement was worth his murder."

"Please. Put me down and we'll talk about this." WInslow said. "I'm going to fall."

"No. That would be too easy." Elena said.

"This isn't a game!" Winslow cried out.

Elena cupped her hand to her ear like she couldn't hear him. "What was that. Say it louder."

"I said this isn't a fucking game! This is my life!!" Winslow said.

"No. This is your death, Ty." Elena said. "Hey. Here's an idea. Not a game. A game show. 'This is your death.' Now I've got to admit that I've never seen this is your life. I've only heard the title so I'll have to improvise. Cross it with something I have seen." She paused to think. "Let's make a deal."

"You want to negotiate? G-good. Let's negotiate." Winslow said.

"Negotiate? Hell no. I don't want a deal. I'm offering you a choice on how you die." Elena said. "After all, you have nothing more to give me. You said everything and I still refused. So you have to die. Why? Because I finally see your point of view. Watching someone die can be better than all the money in the world." She smiled when his face drained of color and his mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. "Now, behind door number one we have the most obvious choice. You can fall from the tree. Only I'll make sure they don't kill you. And I won't drop you. I'll throw you hard break every limb but not hard enough to kill you. Then I'll gag you and leave you to die. Slowly. Behind door number two-"

"No." Winslow whimpered, sounding almost canine like himself. "Please stop."

"Hey. I'm just getting warmed up. You know what I admire most about you? Your creativity. Your ingenuity. Like giving me the option of being gang raped or having to kill armen. You've inspired me to new heights of creativity. So listen up." Elena snapped. "Option two? Remember what I did to Lake when we were fighting? That cool little trick where I change my hand into a paw? I can do that to you. I slice out your guts. Not a lot. Just enough for you to slowly bleed out. You know what? To hell with the game. That's what I'm going with. It's fitting. I'm sure that's what going to be happening to you for eternity." She pressed her hand against his stomach until she smelled piss. She looked disgusted. "Jesus. I was joking."

"Stop." Winslow pleaded. "Just stop."

"I can't. You remember let's make a deal, right? There's three doors. And behind it we have... hmmm..." Elena looked up and noticed a vulture lazily flying overhead. "There. See that? A turkey vulture. Also known as a buzzard. A scavenger. That will be the last choice. Death by scavenger. I take you down from the tree and stake you out. Then I slice you up. Lots of little cuts. All nonlethal. Just enough to draw blood. You'll get a firsthand view of every scavenger in these woods. Oh. I'll need to cut out your tongue to keep people from hearing your screams. A definite improvement over gagging, don't you think? You should be proud of me. I'm your star pupil. Oh, speaking of pupils. I won't blindfold you. That way you can see the vultures and stray dogs that feed on you. Well, until they take your eyes."

"stop!" Winslow shouted in a shrill voice. "I know what you're doing. You want me to beg. Offer you more."

"What more? You offered everything." Elena said

"No. You won't kill me. I'm worth too much." Winslow said. He was rabid with fear and denial.

"You're with nothing to me!" Elena shouted. "Only your death is worth anything to me."

"You won't do it. You don't have it in you." Winslow said

"Want to bet?" Elena asked. "Pick. One, two or three."

"You're torturing me. That's all. You want me to squirm." Winslow told her.

Elena pulled him to her face. "Don't tell me what I don't have in me." She growled then grinned when she saw the terror in his eyes. Then she dropped him.
