Unfortunately for him, he had finally realized his feelings for her during all of this. He had been having those feelings for years, but the idea of love was so out of the realm of possibility to him that he hadn't understood them even after going through them with Elena all those years ago. He had only realized them now thanks the overwhelming dread he had since she had gotten sick. That's when he put everything together. The good moods she put him in when they were together, the easy way he could talk to her, everything. "I'm sorry, darling." He whispered before pulling the trigger. | |

He wordlessly pushed the gun into Sam's hand as he passed him to go outside. Jeremy called his name but he didn't respond. He just went outside, changed, and disappeared into the woods. Once he was far enough away from everyone he threw back his head and let out a mournful howl. It was easy for anyone to hear how much pain he was in. | |
