"Are you giving me orders now?" Was nicks only reply. He would never go out looking for Ruby just as he wouldn't go out looking for any mutt. They were beneath him. Outsiders. Violent as well. "I'm actually here to talk to your grandmother. Is she around?" Jeremy asked. He didn't pay any attention to the antics of the chickens.

Emily smirked a little. "Why yes. Yes I am." She looked around the house, a tad uncomfortable without Jeremy there. She didn't think that Malcolm would be that bad to Clay, so maybe telling him was a mistake. Ruby shook her head. "No. She's out." She looked down for a second, thinking. "I think we have some extra cookies if you want some." She let herself out of the run.

"Good." Nick said as he plopped down on the couch. "Someone needs to. I would hate to be able to make decisions for myself." He sarcastically said. He didn't mind her telling him what to do, as long as she didn't make a habit of it. "Thank you very much, but we don't want to impose." Jeremy said. He didn't have to look over at Antonio to see his disappointed face. He wasn't a person who would say no to food. "Do you know when she will be returning? I really need to speak with her."

Emily laughed, plopping down on the couch next to him. "I can't believe you're so calm about this. I would hate being told what to do. Somebody would have to pay." She joked. Depending on the person she wouldnt do anything. Ruby smiled, noticing Antonio's disappointment. "Oh come on, my grandmother makes the best cookies in the world. She made these ones for people to sample anyway." She started walking to the house expecting them to follow. When Jeremy asked about her grandmother she shrugged. "She wouldn't tell me what she was doing. She should be home soon though, although it has taken a few hours before. You're welcome to come back another time if you would like."

Nick shrugged a shoulder. "It doesn't really bother me. I'm a follower, I guess. And I'm fine with that... Mostly. It really depends on the person or the thing they're telling me to do." He did not have a dominant personality, which was good. The pack needed subordinates. And Nick was a top notch subordinate. Antonio wasn't nearly as overly polite as Jeremy. If she was sure he could have it, he was going to take what was offered. He trailed behind the girl as she led them to the house. Jeremy shook his head at his friend's excitement and followed them. He hoped that she'd be back soon. He didn't want to leave Ruby by herself when Malcolm was out to kill her. "If it's okay with you, we'll stick around for a little while to wait for her. If she doesn't arrive soon, though, I'll just leave my number so she can call me at a more convenient time."

Emily laughed again. "Well, good. You'll let me be the boss then. I'll have to remember this when I'm alpha." She joked, putting her head on the back of the couch, watching him. Ruby nods. She took them into the house. The smell of the food filled the house, making it smell like cookies, muffins, cakes, and pancakes. Everything in the house was super old and looked as if it was falling apart. There were locks on all the windows and doors. Her bow and arrow set was leaning against the door. Granny had her crossbow with her. Ruby led them into the small kitchen where she got a plate of some freshly baked shortbread cookies. "Make yourself at home. But don't touch those baskets. We need those to be able to sell."

"Don't I already let you be the boss?" Nick playfully asked. He didn't really have much to say about her being alpha. She might be alpha someday or she might not. It didn't matter right now, to him at least. His grandpa was in charge now and that's all that mattered at the moment. Although he did sometimes pay attention to Malcolm and Jeremy's fighting. Â Antonio and Jeremy followed her inside. Antonio breathed in deeply, enjoying the smell of the place. He grinned widely, making him look almost as childlike as his son often did, which was funny considering how big and muscular he was. The sight of him could intimidate most people, and he had the fighting skills to back up that intimidation, but not the attitude. He would die to protect his family and friends but wouldn't go looking for a fight. He happily took a cookie. Jeremy smiled slightly at Ruby's statement. "Don't tell him to make himself at home. He'll eat everything in this house." He paused then added, "Although I'm sure he'll pay you back." Antonio laughed at his friend. "If the rest of the food is half as good as this cookie, you'll have a return customer all the time." He finished his cookie and took another.

Emily laughed again. "I guess that's true." She thought for a couple minutes. She knew that his grandfather was alpha, which should set his father up to be alpha. Which them left the question of Nick becoming alpha. She really couldn't see it. "So you're going to be alpha?" Ruby smiled. "Well I'm sure my grandmother would be more than happy to fill your orders, but I can promise you that she'll be mad if you eat the orders that she's already made." She paused, looking at the other things. "Although she prefers if I deliver them warm so she might let you have them."

Nick laughed at her question. He laughed for a long time and as if that was the funniest thing he had ever heard in his life. "Me?" He wheezed out once he stopped laughing so hard. "Alpha? No way!" Being an alpha wasn't handed down to father to son, at least in the north American pack. It could be, but Antonio did not want to be in charge. Which left it open for anyone once Dominic either stepped down or died. Which was what Malcolm was looking forward to. It was well known he had his name in the running. Dominic was training Jeremy to take over, but had made nothing official. Many pack members also found it laughable to think of Jeremy in any leadership role. He wasn't werewolf like- too polite, too quiet, and too weak were common things to hear about Jeremy- and since alphas were always the strongest pack member, Malcolm was the best candidate. "Never." Â "I can control myself enough not to eat everything in sight... I think." Antonio said, joking around. "I wouldn't worry too much."

Emily nodded, almost looking offended at how hard he was laughing. She didn't know and apparently it wasn't a good idea to ask. "Well then Jeremy will have to be alpha, then me." Ruby nodded, watching them. "So what are you doing here?" Her family never got visitors. When they did, it wasn't good news. Her grandmother had became the laughing stock of this town. Everybody knew of the old, crazy Widow Lucas.

Nick didn't seem to notice that she was offended. He didn't mean anything bad by his laughing. It had just been really funny. "I hope so. We're all screwed if Malcolm is in charge." Malcolm liked Antonio and Clay, in as much as he ever liked anyone, and since they liked Nick, he tolerated the boy, which wasn't hard since it was hard to dislike Nick. That didn't mean Nick thought any of them were safe if Malcolm took power. Â "Like I said, I need to speak to your grandmother about something. She... contacted me earlier to talk about some things and I need to update her on what's going on." Jeremy said. He didn't know how much Ruby knew about his meeting with her grandma while she was at school and didn't want to say too much.

Emily nods a little, looking down. "He threatened me. I'm either not going to be in the pack or worse than an omega, whatever that means, if he becomes alpha." She looked nervous again. Ruby nodded a little bit, looking confused. "Why did you talk to my grandmother?" She tipped her head, almost looking like a wolf as she watched him intently.

"He wouldn't dare." Nick said confidently. "If he even tries I'll give him a nice... punch before he took me out. But I will defend you as best as I can. Granted that isn't much." Â "I'm sure she will tell you soon." Jeremy said, trying to get out of this conversation. He didn't want to tell her anything about being a wolf right now.

Emily grins. "Thank you. You're nice. Maybe I'll have to teach you how to fight sometime." She said happily, her grin spreading into a full smile. Ruby was about to respond to him when a breeze blew into the window. She froze, still in mid word, looking out the window. She smelled something. She softly growled.

"My father and clay have both tried to do that and have failed, so I doubt you'd be able to." Nick replied. He didn't expect to ever be able to take Malcolm, so why bother? Â Jeremy noticed her sniffing and did as well, searching for anything that could cause her to act like she was.

"If you want, you can try, I guess. Might be something to do." Nick said. He knew Clay had a weight set in the basement that might be helpful and he was sure his friend wouldn't mind him using it. Â "Want me to go check it out?" Antonio offered, knowing he would be the best option if there was a fight.

Nick dramatically groaned and hauled himself to his feet. "Now? I thought we'd do it later..." Antonio nodded slightly and relaxed. He got along better with humans than most of the pack so this one, as long as Ruby knew him, wasn't that much of a worry. "Okay."

Emily laughed. "Yes, now. You won't get strong by sitting around on your ass all day. Come on." She got up, grabbing his arm just above the wrist. She started to lead him down to the basement. Ruby on the other hand, seemed extremely tense. She hated this man with a burning passion. So as his smell got stronger, signaling that he was getting closer, a low growl rumbled in her throat.
